Exercise your Right and Vote!
51It has been awhile since my last entry.....it is amazing how other stuff which now seems so unimportant gets in the way of what I planned to do. Aside from work which takes up an enormous amount of time, I guess I was caught up with a lot of distractions.....events swirling around us. There's the Olympics that made some of us stay up late at night for days watching the drama of the events and triumph of the athletes physically, emotionally. Watching the events make me feel very proud as an American. After the Olympics, of course, I got caught up with the Democratic and Republican National Convention. This is the election I am most interested in. I believe we have so much at stake as citizens and as a nation. I ask myself the question who best represent my interest as a mother who has to make ends meet; as a working woman who has to juggle between taking care of my family and work.....who will represent and protect my Christian values?
Today the big news is about the failed financial institutions and with more to come. This is a huge wake up call for me. I want to ask the two candidates what they are going to do to protect the snowball effect of the failure of these financial institutions....how can they protect our hard-earned money we deposited in our 401k or pension funds? How can Obama continue to promise to provide social and subsidized programs for certain groups of people when America is broke? Given the enormous debt this nation carries, can we afford to have all the social programs that are being promised? I personally think we all should demand for fiscal conservatism so America can get back on its feet and build a stronger economy. With all the bailouts the government just made, we are footing the bill. Can the American people bear to have increased taxes? I love living in California and even with a decent salary, more than 1/4 of this goes to taxes. With all the cost of living and all the extra things we have to pay on our own, I don't want to be burdened by additional taxes. Now is the time to do a lot of soul searching to make our decision on who is the best person to represent our interest. I say exercise your right and use your precious vote wisely!
